BARTON BROWN
INVESTIGATOR
From 1995 to 2009, Mr. Brown served in the Newark and Memphis FBI Field Offices where he assembled and led multi-agency teams targeting criminal organizations and public corruption. He also commanded one of the FBI’s fifty-six field SWAT Teams. In 2007 he received the United States Attorney’s Award for Investigative Excellence after leading a long term undercover operation against corrupt public officials.
Upon promotion to FBIHQ, Mr. Brown served as a Program Manager for the FBI’s Field Intelligence Groups where he was a principal author of FBI policy regarding the then-emerging national network of state-based Intelligence Fusion Centers.

- Mr. Brown is a certified Close Protection Agent, SWAT Senior Team Leader, Firearms Instructor, First Responder/Care Under Fire (Trauma), and Combatives Instructor.
- Prior to the FBI, Mr. Brown served as an Intelligence Operations Officer with assignments in a variety of units including Joint Support Operations (JSO), Joint Task Force Six (JTF-6), and an Army rapid deployment unit.
- Mr. Brown continues to serve as a consultant, subject matter expert and provider of close protection services to a variety of private, corporate and government entities.
INVESTIGATOR
From 2009 to 2015, Mr. Brown was assigned to the FBI’s Protective Operations Unit and was selected personally by the Attorney General of the United States to serve as Agent in Charge (AIC) of the Attorney General’s Protection Detail. In that capacity, Mr. Brown was responsible for a team of 23 highly trained FBI Special Agents and was responsible for leading a comprehensive Security Program addressing all aspects of Physical Security and Executive Protection. He led complex security operations in every major city in the United States and over 30 foreign countries throughout Africa, the Middle East, Europe, Asia and Latin America. In September 2012, while conducting security operations in the Middle East, Mr. Brown led the evacuation of the Attorney General and other officials in the midst of regional unrest.
Subsequently, as Unit Chief (Acting) of the FBI’s Protective Operations Unit, Mr. Brown served as the FBI’s Subject Matter Expert on Executive Protection and was pivotal in standardizing selection, training, and operations across the FBI’s Protective Operations enterprise. Mr. Brown received numerous awards and recognition throughout his career including the FBI Director’s High Impact Leadership Award in 2015. In 2016 he was retained by one of the two major presidential campaigns as an Expert Witness on Executive Protection and was instrumental in favorably resolving a criminal matter on their behalf.
Adam has numerous experiences as serving in the police administration where his responsibilities were to create training programs, attend numerous network associations to discuss crime prevention topics and has been assigned to conduct and complete sensitive internal investigations. Adam has testified regularly in court in a vast amount of criminal cases, interacting with attorneys, judges, and jurors and has received numerous letters of commendations from superiors and citizens and has been selected by superiors as Officer of the Quarter.
Adam retired in 2014 and was offered a Director of Security Position for a larger retail mall which was associated with a fortune 500 company. During his tenure, he has conducted numerous insurance fraud and premise liability investigations that impacted the retail center. Adam was responsible in making numerous changes to the environment to reduce the legal litigation cost factor in many cases. After a successful four-year tenure, Adam decided to broaden his expertise in the field of Private Investigations and Executive Protection.
In April of 2019, Adam joined ventures with John Sinks as a consultant and certified State of Florida Investigator whom he has known for over thirty years personally and professionally. During Adam’s tenure, he collectively was involved with several surveillances that yielded positive results for our clients, engaged in a nationally known homicide case, as well as a complex fraud case. Late in 2019, it was decided that I officially partner with CIS, Inc. as the Vice President and Sr. Partner.
